So I was talking to a friend at work the other day and he mentioned that I should check out this movie called “Y tu mamá también.” He said it was one of the best films he had ever seen. So I added the movie to my netflix queue, bumped it up close to the top, and forgot about it.

Today when I went to get the mail (which I neglected for most of the weekend), I discovered that “Y tu mamá también” was sitting in my mailbox. We had just finished band practice and I was on my way to visit my Mom. I thought, “hey, a cool foreign flick, at the recommendation of a friend – how can I go wrong?” Lots of ways, that’s how.

Red flag number 1: the movie starts out with two sex scenes between two different teenage couples. No seriously, it starts that way.

The movie was practically an elevated porno – a bit more plot than necessary, and some cool scenic shots, but plenty of sex scenes, just without the money shots. Remember when Titanic came out, and we all discovered that Kate Winslet had great tits and that Leonardo DiCaprio might be able to act? Well, sitting through that movie in a movie theater with my Mom was when I discovered how uncomfortable it felt to watch a sex scene with your Mom sitting next to you. Yeah, so “y tu mamá también” has like 10 sex scenes.

I guess if I can sit through 10 sex scenes with my Mom I can pretty much get through anything…except maybe a three-hour block of church.

I’ve seen at least three of these in our office in the last week. Apparently their bites don’t do too much to you besides just hurt for a while. They’re still a little freaky.

My younger brother Josh is a missionary in Souther California near the fires that have been happening. These are unmodified photographs (I did actually resize them, but I haven’t run any filters on them or anything).
